PUBLIC TOYS

QUICK REVIEW
The Public Toys from France bang out four tracks that remind you of some good ol punk rock just the way Hanks likes it on HanksRadio.com. “Shell Beach” starts you off with a ripper to get the blood flowing and its’s a 1:59er. “Cop Love” is the longest track that’s 3:31 so you can head over to Bandcamp to see what kinda "Cop Love" you like. Love the track # 3 “Scum B” it hits it fast and hard for your delight. Then we go to “Big Flash” for another ripper that will make you wish there was a #5, 6 or 7 but that’s it for this EP. It came out on River Trash Records and the band is from Winnipeg, Manitoba. That’s Canada for you who were wondering. This is a great one so check them out on bandcamp.com or listen up on Hanks Rock & Roll Radio.

TASTE TESTORS: Taste
Testors

QUICK REVIEW
The Taste Testors are Power Pop / Garage Rockers from Seattle, Washington. The new “blue” vinyl record out is self-named “Taste Testors” and is out on MoodKiller Records. It has 10 tracks that you will definitely hear on Hanks. You can pick up the digital and the vinyl up on Bandcamp; I highly recommend it for all you rock & rollers listening on HanksRadio.com. The # 4 track “She Looks Cool in Every Direction” has already been on the Hanks Radio Indie Alliance top 10 so listen up for that one. They keep the rocking up with the next track 1,2,3,4 “Doctor Doctor” which is the longest track at 2:43 so bang this one out. “She Didn’t Tell Me She Was A Dopehead” is a great super power pop fun one that you will learn how to spell D O P E H E A D if you didn’t already know. These guys in the band are Stevie E-Lead Vocals, Leif Larson on Bass, Neils Larson-Guitar, Vocals and Vic Sanchez on Drums.
Don’t forget to listen to the last track number 10 they rip
it up with the tune “Narc” and as they say this is what you get – All
downstrokes, No bass lines, No guitar solos, No filler.
Grab this one and check them out on Insta & FB

GUERRILLA TEENS: MONKEY PAW
Hanks Rock &
Roll Radio
REVIEW
Guerrilla Teens 10 track album is out in the digital form on bandcamp; but were also supposed to be looking out for a vinyl release. As soon as the vinyl comes out it will definitely be up on the shelf. I mean come on track # 2 is “Mary’s Got The Bomb” and my wife’s name is Mary and she definitely is the bomb so I’m loving this one. The full album is a great garage rocker you’re going to want to pick up. It’s perfect for Hanks Rock & Roll Radio with 6 of the tracks less than 3 minutes. The Guerrilla Teens are from Portland, Oregon and kill it on “My Home Town” Love the Scott Drake vocals and the geetar ripping by Jeff Fieldhouse. It’s a killer and kids drinking vodka after dark sounds just about like every home town in America.
Two of my other favorite tracks are # 7 “Bright As The Sun”
and the other one is # 8 “Johnny On The Mainline” as Scott Drake sings about
riding a train, fine wine and beautiful girls. Both have great lyrics and rock
it just the way we want to play it on HanksRadio.com. I’m sure a few of these
tunes will make it onto the Hanks Radio Indie Alliance top ten the next few
weeks. I highly suggest you get out and go see these guys live and go grab what
you want on Bandcamp and then wait for the vinyl record release… Basicly, it’s a SMASH HIT!

THE VAPORS
Hanks Rock & Roll
Radio
REVIEW
We’ll here we go with The Vapors new British rock release “Wasp
In A Jar” that came out on February 28 on Bandcamp. It has 14 digital tracks on Bandcamp that rocks with that indie feel from a band that’s been playing forever or
since the early 80’s. The # 1 track “Hit The Ground Running” playing on HanksRadio.com
definitely rocks your ass off. These dudes have been doing it for a long time
and if you like The Vapors you’re going to like this track and I think your
going to really love this whole album. Most of the tracks are 3:00 or more so
it’s a rocker not a punk rocker if you know what I mean. Listen to “Non Stop
Radio” it has a great rock n roll beat that you will enjoy especially when you
hear it on vinyl. The vinyl record will only have 12 tracks not 14. Head down
to track # 8 “Nothing Can Stop Us Now” it starts off with an acoustic sound
then heads into the great sound of The Vapors that they always give you. The
lyrics on all these tracks are great story telling and poetic enough for you to
enjoy through out the album. I’m diggin’
“Proud” it’s a good easy rock song that I will be listening to while I head
down to Galveston beach to put me in a great mood for the rest of the day. Cheers
to The Vapors! I highly recommend this British
rock album so head over to Bandcamp.com and take a listen and pick up a CD or a
record for the collection. Find The
Vapors on their website https://www.thevapors.co.uk/ or the socials Facebook, X
and Instagram for all your band hootenanny. And no “Turning Japanese” is not a
bonus track on this album.

S.F. rock legends reunite for Noise Pop as former singer faces homelessness
We started recording our fifth album, the follow up to Candy Coated Cannonball, in February and have been noses to the grindstone with that ever since, electing to take the first half of the year off the road to focus on it. We’re recording at Black Sheep Audio and Production in Novi, Michigan, with one Steve Presti at the helm. I worked with Steve in the 90’s on SlugBug’s Up From Adirondack ep, and the “Live it Down” and “Incomplete Control” 7-inches, so it was a familiar voice coming through the cans telling me I needed to do better. He’s got an incredible room, and to my ears, stuff is sounding amazing.
This batch of songs is the most “rock” we’ve ever been; riff driven, short, driving songs, but still that Tucos’ flair for melody, and occasional hints of twang. Hilights so far have been getting the East Side (of Detroit) crew, featuring pals Ricky Rat, Joe Leone, Laura Mendoza, Jim Rinn, and Eric and Kristin from Ladyship Warship/Warhorses, in to do some handclaps and gang vocals, and a few weeks later, a real live string section and composer, Dale Grisa, in to lay down some orchestration on a song. That was a first, and an amazing, intense experience.
L.A. DRUGZ is gearing up to reissue their acclaimed EP "Outside Place" on June 12 via Hovercraft Records from Portland, Oregon. Originally released in 2013, the EP quickly gained recognition as a power pop classic, earning the band a devoted fanbase. The group, featuring Justin Maurer from CLOROX GIRLS and SUSPECT PARTS, James Carman of MANIAC, TELEPHONE LOVERS, THE REFLECTORS, and IMAGES, Cezar Mora from BAD MACHINE, and Johnny "JD" Reyes, formerly of IMAGES and BAD MACHINE, forms a punk/power pop supergroup with a unique musical identity. Inspired by the dissolution of CLOROX GIRLS in 2010, Maurer, along with Cezar Mora, and James Carman, embarked on crafting original songs under the moniker LA DRUGZ. The band's debut EP, "Outside Place," originally released by Hovercraft Records, is making a comeback for its 10-year anniversary edition reissue. The EP's sound seamlessly blends classic power pop with melodic '70s punk, drawing influences from a diverse range of bands such as THE NERVES, BUZZCOCKS, THE KIDS, and more. With infectious tracks like "Ooh Ooh Ooh" and "Marina," the EP showcases Maurer's talent for crafting memorable pop songs. Produced by the band in Calimucho, Kevin Carle’s home studio, and mastered by Daniel Hadji Husayn at North London Bomb Factory, the EP delivers a warm analog sound perfect for vinyl enthusiasts....Chad Cornies No Rules, PR

New Jersey-based “Surf, Lounge & Exotic Sounds” record label Hi-Tide Recordings has announced dates, music lineup & general on sale for Hi-Tide Summer Holiday: Asbury Park 2024. The event returns August 16-18, 2024 to Asbury Lanes & The Asbury, with tickets on sale now at hitidesummerholiday.com
Punk rock pioneers ADOLESCENTS are set to release a historic double LP, titled "The Rob Ritter Tapes - Live At Starwood 1980/1981" capturing the raw energy and essence of their blue album line-up. This unique collection, set to drop May 17, 2024, serves as a 40+ year historical document, offering fans an unfiltered glimpse into the band's early days.
This double LP is not a new studio album but a sonic time capsule that showcases the band's live performances in their purest form. The recordings, sourced from an old cassette tape provided by the late Rob Ritter in 1985, exude a raw, low-fidelity charm with bum notes, flat voices, and guitar tuning imperfections that capture the essence of punk rock in its formative years.
"I found this in one of my cassette tapes boxes. No one has heard these particular tapes, and they have not been released prior to this collection," says singer Tony Reflex, reflecting on the discovery during the pandemic-induced garage cleanup.
The first show, recorded on December 9th, 1980, at the Starwood in Hollywood, coincided with the aftermath of the deaths of Darby Crash and John Lennon. The poignant performances reflect a band navigating through a turbulent time, providing solace through their music. From unique introductions to tape cuts during long waits, the nuances of the show are preserved, including different lyrics for "Self Destruct" and "No Friends" before they were changed for the Blue Album recording.
The second show, recorded on March 24th, 1981, also at the Starwood, showcases the band on the brink of releasing their album. With dedication to Jim Houseman, the songwriter of "Democracy", and plenty of cringeworthy stage banter, this set captures ADOLESCENTS’ evolving sound and stage presence during a period of rapid growth.
"The Rob Ritter Tapes - Live At Starwood 1980/1981" is a must-have for fans of punk rock history, offering an intimate and unpolished look into the formative years of one of the genre's most influential bands. Both previously unreleased live recordings will be available via Conrade Jungle Records as ltd. digisleeve Double-CD, ltd. colored 180g Double-Vinyl (incl. the entire recordings on Double-CD) and digital on May 17, 2024 – providing a sonic journey back to the streets of Hollywood in the early '80s
